On 12 May 2016, RE/MAX Central will be hosting a fundraiser at the Barnyard Theatre in Rivonia. All proceeds from the night will go to Pay It Forward, a community organisation that assists families in need.
On 12 May 2016, RE/MAX Central will be hosting a fundraiser at the Barnyard Theatre in Rivonia. All proceeds from the night will go to Pay It Forward, a community organisation that assists families in need.Nils Hannemann, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Central, says that so many people in South Africa are struggling financially, and the rising cost of living is only placing more pressure on them.
“Without organisations such as Pay It Forward, it would be virtually impossible for a great number of families to make ends meet,” says Hannemann.
“Through this fundraiser we are hoping to temporarily alleviate some the financial burden of Pay if Forward and make a difference in the community where we can. For R160 a ticket, those who attend will be able to enjoy a night out watching a fantastic show, while supporting an amazing cause in the process.”
Run by Greg Wells-Clifton, Pay It Forward was founded in 2011, primarily to help the immediate needs of families affected by tough economic crises. Since it has opened the organisation has managed to assist people from all walks of life and income groups.
“Troubles can hit any one of us at any time,” says Wells-Clifton. “You never know when you could be affected financially due to retrenchment, death or other unforeseen circumstances and, should it happen, it is great to have an organisation such as Pay It Forward to look to for support.”
Hannemann says that regardless of race, age or gender, we could all use a helping hand at times to get back on our feet.
“It is often hard to hold onto a sense of hope in a financially difficult time. Life sometimes deals with people harshly and each day is a struggle, however, knowing there is a place to turn will help people to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” says Hannemann.
Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, says RE/MAX of Southern Africa has a strong association with various initiatives that help those in need.
“As a brand we believe in community involvement and giving back to the communities in which we operate in an effort to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” he says.
Hannemann says the event will only be a success if the community pulls together to support the initiative.
“The more support we get, the more families we will be able to help, so we are asking those in the community to get behind this cause,” says Hannemann.
“We can't do this on our own, but we can do it with the help of the members in our community. The more people that are involved with this project the better and we can stand together united to help those in need and move forward to a better South Africa.”
