Rustenburg market growing rapidly

21 May 2006
Leading property group Chas Everitt International is to open an office in Rustenburg, which is one of the fastest-growing towns in SA.

The new franchise will be headed by local businessman Bernhardt van Wyk, who has made a name in residential developments - and is currently building a commercial centre that will also house a Chas Café property show centre.

Van Wyk says the Rustenburg property market is characterised by a rather conservative and family-oriented community who will feel comfortable with the Chas Everitt International way of doing business. "The brand is synonymous with business ethics and places strong emphasis on family values," he says.

He is confident about the prospects for the local property market. "The city is expanding in all directions thanks to the new platinum mines. Miners from the closed gold mines on the highveld are streaming to Rustenburg in search of jobs - and housing.

House prices in Rustenburg now average about R900 000 and high demand has seen an overflow of buyers to neighbouring Swartruggens and Koster, where prices have also grown rapidly, but most homes still fall in the R350 000 to R500 000 price category.
