An upmarket guest lodge and wellness spa close to Oudtshoorn's famous Cango Caves is on the market at R5.5m.
Oudtshoorn, the ostrich feather capital of the world, is situated in the Klein Karoo about 55 km from the coastal town of George. Thirty kilometres north of the town is one of the world's great natural wonders, the Cango Caves.
New on the market is an upmarket guest lodge and wellness spa situated on the 'Golden Mile' on the way to the caves. Situated opposite the Cango Wildlife Ranch, the oldest and biggest cheetah contact centre worldwide, guests at the lodge sometimes go to sleep with the growling of cheetahs and lion in the background. The last property on the edge of town (en route to the Cango Caves), herds of springbok and the odd camel visit the fence.
Says Gerdi van der Merwe, Director of Seeff Properties Oudtshoorn: "We are very excited about this opportunity, since it offers a superb lifestyle and investment option. The spa and guest house are a going concern with a Highly Recommended Accommodation Award from the AA. It is incredibly well situated and offers excellent value at R5.5m."
The guest house is around 500m2 in extent, set in grounds of 4261 m2 with a further 2600 m2 available for further development. It comprises 9 luxury bedrooms (4 with spa baths and 5 with showers en suite). All have magnificent views of the Swartberg Mountains and are equipped with satellite television and air-conditioning. The deck houses a swimming pool and warm Jacuzzi. The spa is ultra-modern with fully qualified therapists offering massage, body and facial treatments including Indian head massage and de-stressing treatments.

The lodge is perfectly suited to can host small conferences, and was chosen to host the VIP guests of South African Airways during the 2003 President's Golf Cup. In the past it has also hosted a number of South African pop stars and celebrities.
