Jhb Honeydew to get new shop centre

A R100m shopping centre in the Honeydew area in the west of Johannesburg is set for completion on 1 April 2009.

Construction on the 13,000sqm 5 Star Junction value centre began in March 2008. Eighty percent of the development is comprised of warehouse and show units, whilst the remaining 20% is comprised of convenience and retail outlet stores.

Arthur Deeb, one of the directors of Plumstar, the developers of the projet, says more than 60% of the development is pre-let. He continued by saying that the anchor tenant is expected to be a national convenience store group occupying 1,600sqm on a long-term lease.

Deeb concluded by saying that the largest draw card for the centre is the office and residential development in the area. Situated directly opposite Ferreira's, 5 Star Junction has attracted tenants from the home, décor and automotive sectors.

The lower level of the value centre has been designed to cater for the show room units, whilst the convenience store section is situated on the upper level.
