Residents of Hazeldean, the new suburb that is rapidly taking shape to the east of Pretoria, will soon have their very own shopping centre, complete with Pick 'n Pay, Woolworths, Virgin Active and Intercare as anchor tenants.
The Hazeldean Square centre, which is scheduled to open on 27 September, will also house ATMs, restaurants and service outlets as well as health, homeware and clothing stores.
It is an integral part of the Full Circle Living concept that is central to the vision of Hazeldean developers Abland and Sable Homes – the idea being to create a self-contained suburb with all the shops, schools, workplaces, entertainment venues and recreational facilities that residents need.
This speaks to the desire of many modern homebuyers to spend as little time as possible commuting, while also having the opportunity to enjoy the additional security and tranquillity of estate living.
Hazeldean Square will be a 16 000sq m centre with a Pick 'n Pay of more than 3300sq m and a Woolworths Foods store of around 700sq m as well as outlets of other large chains such as Maxi's, Dischem, PNA and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
A Virgin Active gym occupying around 3600sq m and an Intercare medical and dental care centre of around 1900sq m will also form part of the complex.
The centre will serve the residents of the estates already established within the Hazeldean precinct, such as Leeuwenhof, The Ridge, The Meadows and The Retreat retirement village, as well as those living in Silver Lakes, Lombardy and other developments further to the east in Boschkop and Zwavelpoort.
It will also provide a convenient shopping and entertainment venue for those working in the nearby Tijger Vallei Office Park, and in the Hazeldean Office Park currently under construction, which will accommodate 23 000sq m of office space for sale or to let, of which 6000sq m will be completed by June next year.
