Feng Shui tips for your home

Feng Shui is an ancient art of interior and exterior decorating, one which enhances the energy flow and space of your home. Correct feng shui design or way of life, allows people to feel secure in their interior. It is a principal that should be natural and balanced, while providing comfort to those occupying it.

Every home owner wants a harmonious living space, while often the idea of applying this falls away from time to time. It can seem like a daunting task, but by following these few simple steps, you will not only be re-vamping your interior but increasing a happier care-free living environment.

Get rid of clutter

The first principle of a feng shui home is to allow space at the main door or entrance to be free and clear of clutter, so as to encourage a good energy to flow in. By having an uncluttered environment, you will be more likely to be able to focus on the task at hand; whether it is entertaining guests or relaxing with a good book.

Open the windows and draw back the curtains

Having a good flow of fresh air and a natural source of light in your house can increase anyone’s mood instantaneously. These two elements are essential for good feng shui energy in your home. Start by opening all the windows often, to ensure fresh airflow and an aerated space. Allow as much natural light as possible into your home; while at night consider using full-spectrum lights.

Increase usage of natural materials

Use natural materials for all décor and building supplies. Natural materials not only create a pleasant living space, it is good for the environment too. Products include bamboo, hemp, and organic fabrics. If you want to practice feng shui, a great way would be to have a bamboo wood floor or have an organic cotton slipcover over your couch.

Create an aroma

Normally living and dining areas get a scent that is specific to the use of the room, but what if that scent is bad? A home’s scent can also influence the comfort and mood of the family within. There are many products on the market at the moment that can help keep your home smelling nice. Choose from a range of scents such as, citrus, pine jasmine, sandalwood or rose.

Decorate with plants

If you want your room to have good chi, then you definitely want to decorate with plants. Plants are good for any environment, increasing your state of being whilst ensuring healthy air placement. The fact that plants are a living object makes them a wonderful addition to any feng shui room. As plants come in all shapes and sizes, you can be rather adventurous when using them in your décor scheme.

While there are plenty of books available for you to research and study Feng Shui further; you can also employ the services of a registered Feng Shui specialist. They will assist you and in creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout the home. – Maryann Lister
