CT's Claremont: R450m development

R450m is being spent to transform the old Pick 'n Pay headquarters site into Paramount Towers, an exciting mixed-use development.

Listed property company Paramount Property Fund is transforming the old Pick 'n Pay HQ site into an exciting mixed use development. Arnold Maresky, a director of Paramount, says that Paramount Towers is one of the most significant developments taking place in the Claremont area.

The R450 million scheme will comprise retail, commercial and residential units and Virgin Active – with its state-of-the-art Premier Club gym– and Coronation Fund Managers have both already snapped up two floors each of the commercial section. Alongside other convenience stores such as wine merchants, travel agents and coffee shops, Pick 'n Pay will open its new exciting concept store measuring in excess of 6000 square metres within the retail section.

Designed by architects dhk, Paramount Towers on the corner of Campground and Main Roads is at the very epicentre of activity in Southern Suburbs. As dhk's Derick Henstra explains: "This is a signature development for the kind of lifestyle people are seeking today – one that offers security, style, contact with other people and convenience."

Of the free-standing residential block, levels 4-8 will be occupied by a total of 61 residential units comprising of studio, one-two- and three-bed apartments and 11 penthouses. All the apartments will have spectacular and uninterrupted views from their balconies and ample parking within the 4-level parking section.

Priced from R975 000 including VAT, joint agents Upton Properties and Pam Golding Properties are confident that this development will appeal to discerning professionals. As Mark Upton says: "This is the height of modern living! People will be able to walk or drive safely undercover and they'll have all the basic convenience and service they need just a lift journey away."

MD for the Western Cape Metro region, Mick Joyce adds: "Claremont has enjoyed remarkable growth over the past five years and should continue to do so, especially with the improvement in traffic flow brought on by the construction of the ring road around the Claremont CBD. Paramount Towers therefore represents an excellent opportunity for buyers to secure a luxury lifestyle in a very desirable area, renowned for its proximity to top schools, sporting, medical and shopping facilities."
