Crystal Towers units snapped up

23 Feb 2010

Two luxury penthouses with individual price tags of R8.2 million were among 28 apartments snapped up by buyers over the festive season in the iconic Crystal Towers development at Century City.

Crystal Towers Residences forms part of the mega, R750 million mixed use development which includes the 180 room five-star Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa, offices, conference and meeting facilities, a modern Life Day Spa, restaurants, 24-hour deli and an internal street linking the apartment and hotel towers.

The hotel, which forms part of the exclusive African Pride Collection, opened in December with the rest of the development, including the apartments, due for completion in April this year.

The total value of apartments sold to date in the nine-storey residential tower block exceeds R80 million with a further seven sales pending, which will take the value of sales to over R100 million, says sales director Allen Usher.

“This is an exceptional performance in the current market, particularly as we opted for a soft launch and have yet to embark on a major marketing campaign. Many of the sales to date have been to buyers who were either visiting or staying at the hotel and were impressed by the design and quality of the building and the five-star lifestyle it offers,” says Usher.

Usher says the 91 luxury apartments range from studios aimed at corporates and business travellers to larger apartments aimed at owner occupiers. Apartments are priced from R1.5 million to over R10 million for the luxury duplex penthouses.

“These apartments are all truly in a class of their own. The two penthouse sales went to buyers looking for a centrally located, secure lock up-and-go home which would provide them with a opulent lifestyle with every conceivable amenity, from a world class spa and gym, to all night deli and the largest shopping centre in the Western Cape, right on site or in easy walking distance.”

He says the sale of the two R8.2 million penthouse apartments has set a new benchmark at Century City. The previous record for a residential property at Century City was R5.2 million which was achieved for a penthouse apartment in KnightsBridge.
