Transform an ugly guest loo into a coastal guest toilet with some SupaWood board, a couple of coats of paint and a few accessories.
Paint the walls with Plascon Double Velvet in an aqua or teal hue, or choose a beachy colour that matches your existing home décor.
Give yourself a weekend to take this project from start to finish and you will be rewarded with a guest toilet or separate loo that you and your guests will enjoy.
With some 6mm SupaWood panels given a beadboard design and painted white, a guest toilet takes on a stunning new coastal charm.
1. The guest toilet makeover starts with the cutting and installation of the new skirting around the walls.
You will find a selection of pine skirting at your local Builders Warehouse. Give the skirting a light sanding with 180-grit sandpaper before attaching it to the walls with Pattex No More Nails ultra interior adhesive.
Squeeze a thin bead of adhesive along the top and bottom edge and press firmly against the wall.
2. While you are waiting for the skirting, use a Dremel Trio and a 'V' cutting bit to cut a beadoard design into 6mm SupaWood board.
Attach to the walls with Pattex No More Nails ultra interior adhesive. Add decorative trim to the top of the beadboard panel, once again attaching with Pattex No More Nails.
Note: 6mm SupaWood can be bought at timber and board suppliers in your area.
3. The new bathroom vanity shelf is made using laminated pine that is given 4 coats of Plascon Woodware Ultra. Make sure to apply enough varnish to the edges of the cut board to ensure maximum protection from moisture.

4. The new vanity shelf is mounted onto the wall by securing battens underneath the shelf, screwed into the side and back wall with wall plugs and screws.
Paint the skirtings, wall panels and trim with Plascon Velvaglo. You will need to apply two to three coats, allowing drying time between each coat. Plascon Velvaglo is an oil-based enamel that will protect the panels from occasional splashing and be easy to wipe clean.
Apply the paint with a paintbrush along the cut out lines and then smooth this with a foam roller. Because you are using oil-based paint and can't wash the roller clean, try to complete the project in a day. Have a plastic bag or cling wrap handy to wrap the foam roller if you need to take a break.
Paint the walls with Plascon Double Velvet in an aqua or teal hue, or choose a beachy colour that matches your existing home décor. Use the Plascon Inspired Colour System to help with your choice of colour and then pop into your local Builders Warehouse paint section to select swatches to take home.
If budget allows and you have some time on your hands, consider adding window trim to your new coastal style guest toilet. You can design the trim to allow for storage on the frame ledge and fill this with a few coastal theme accessories.
