Moms have it hard enough with the global Covid-19 pandemic. They play many roles and lately some have had to add home-school teacher to that long list. The least you can do, is make the woman who does so much for you feel special this Mother’s Day - even under 'lockdown' - this upcoming Sunday, 10 May.
Here are a few simple ideas to help make this year’s Mother’s Day unforgettable:
1. Serve her breakfast in bed
Start her day on the right note by bringing her brunch dishes that she will enjoy in bed. And if you can’t be there in real life, order coffee and breakfast from her favourite local spot and have it delivered to her house when she wakes up.
2. Watch a movie together
Grab some popcorn or candy and set aside some time to watch a movie. Whether you’re both in a mood for a hilarious comedy, action or drama pick a movie you will both enjoy while bonding with your mama.
3. Make her a present
A homemade card with a heartfelt message is always a great go-to, but you can take it to the next level by including an original poem or mini-essay of why she’s so special. And what mom wouldn't be happy to receive a gift that the kids have spent hours making?
4. Organise a picnic
Picnics are typically weather-permitting, but if Mother’s Day brings the chills this year, who said you can’t have a lovely picnic inside?
Regardless of where you host your picnic, the essentials are always the same: a big, comfy blanket for seating, easy-to-clean dishes and the type of food that’s best enjoyed barefoot outside (or pretending you’re outside) with the people you love.
5. Take over the household chores
Cleaning the house only takes away more time, which is why your mom shouldn't have it on her to-do list. That means your mom shouldn’t touch any household duties for the next 24-hours. You can also fix her bed while she is taking shower to enjoy her day.
