Randburg is a city located in the north-western parts of Johannesburg, Gauteng. Formerly a separate municipality, its administration transferred to the newly created City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, along with neighbouring Sandton and Roodepoort, in the late 1990s.

It is accessible from major arterials including Bram Fischer Drive, Republic Avenue, Bond Avenue and Jan Smuts Avenue, the longest of these routes connecting Randburg to the Johannesburg CDB. Properties in and around the Randburg area ensure easy access to major freeways connecting neighbouring cities.

The municipal area of Randburg contains numerous residential suburbs including Blairgowrie, Ferndale, Kensington B, Darrenwood, Cresta, Aldara Park, Olivedale, Randpark Ridge, Boskruin and Fairlands. Randburg is seen as an upmarket area with many family-friendly entertainment facilities and beautiful parks. And since it has large residential areas, close to all the basic necessities, property developments in Randburg are increasing and selling at a fast rate. 
Compared to the broader Johannesburg population, the resident demographic of Randburg lies on the wealthier side, with Randburg boastingg lavish homes and large properties. Randburg is well known for its range of shopping malls and entertainment spots, including, Cresta Centre, Northgate and the Randburg Square (formerly Sanlam Shopping Centre) among numerous others.

Other attractions include the Lion Park as well as Brightwater Commons (formerly Randburg Waterfront) which is one of Johannesburg’s well-known entertainment areas incorporating restaurants, play areas and shopping centres.
