Westville becomes more sought-after

07 Aug 2006
The Westville area, already popular with family buyers, is becoming even more sought-after as fuel prices rise and transport costs slice into household budgets.

"The large freehold properties in Westville, coupled with its great schools and ease of access to major shopping centres and freeways make it an excellent choice for people who work in Durban and now don't want to live too far away," says Dorothy Wynne of the new Homenet office that has just opened in the area.

"The expected upward trend of interest rates this year has also slowed down the property price spiral and with prices levelling off now, particularly at the upper end of the market, buyers are enjoying a more realistically priced choice of homes."

Homenet Westville is located in a former bakery on Church Road, and will also serve the Cowies Hill, Reservoir Hills and Sherwood areas - which means that homebuyers and sellers in these areas will now have direct access to Homenet's acclaimed Five-Star service programme," says group MD, David Rogers.

The new office will also be making extensive use of technology to streamline administration and ensure excellent service. This will include Homenet's new, internet-based business management system called iWON, which envisages a paperless, wireless work environment.

One feature of this system is the automated correlation of prospective buyers with the size, type and price of home they are seeking and just linking clients with listings in this way promises to speed up sales significantly - to the benefit of both sellers and buyers, the partners say.

"We have identified a gap in the market, which is the underutilisation of technology, and we are capitalising on this because we are prepared to move with technology and learn new things everyday."
