Rawson open franchise in Volksrust

09 Aug 2013

The Rawson Property Group’s successful Newcastle franchisee, Johan Anderson has applied for and has been granted another franchise in Volksrust.

There is a large demand for property in the R800 000 to R1.5 million bracket, however the primary focus is on homes between R500 000 and R700 000.

Anderson is employing local estate agent, Iris Gouws, to run the office which is located at 10 Joubert Street.

Anderson and Gouws say that Volksrust is 'a near-perfect' place to establish a residential franchise because the town is attracting huge investment at the moment and undergoing continuous development.

Among the projects on the go, or soon to be launched, is a Transnet depot at the Majuba Power Station and a gas project. The town is well known for being the commercial centre of a district which produces maize, wool, sorghum, sunflower seeds, beef and dairy products.

Gouws says there is a large demand in the R800 000 to R1.5 million bracket, however the primary focus is on homes between R500 000 and R700 000. Ninety percent of the Rawson Property Group’s buyers work in one of the local industrial or agricultural enterprises and the strong demand in the area, they believe, will result in on-going price rises.

Because it is on the provincial border of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, the area is a popular stop-over for people travelling between Johannesburg and Durban, making it an ideal location for property investors, or residents who are willing to renovate, to start up a bed and breakfast, she says.

The mountainous scenery, fair weather, semi-rustic lifestyle and continuous development of the local industry are what make the town appealing to its residents. It benefits from having good schools with strong sporting cultures, such as Volksrust High School, and from being close to seven golf clubs. The closest one, Volksrust Gold Club has a well maintained course, bar, restaurant, banquet facilities and a clubhouse.

Both Gouws and Anderson testify that it has been a very big advantage operating under the Rawson Property Group brand, which is known and respected throughout South Africa and which gives their clients great reassurance.
