Influential woman in property receives award

09 Dec 2015

Marna van der Walt, Excellerate Property Services CEO, has been named the Most Influential Woman in Building and Construction sector.

Marna van der Walt, CEO of Excellerate Property Services, centre, receives the award for Most Influential Woman in the Building and Construction sector from Annelize Wepener, Chief Executive of CEO Global, left, and Commander Tsietsi Mokhele, CEO of SAMSA, right.

Van der Walt was recognised by CEO Global at the Most Influential Women in Business and Government Awards in Midrand.

Before being named continental winner, earlier this year Van der Walt was named a regional winner in this celebration of Africa’s most influential people, adding her name to an impressive list of prominent women advancing African economies.

Van der Walt heads up Excellerate Property Services, an integrated property services provider in Africa. With over 20 years’ experience in the property industry, she has also served in several industry positions including President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) and President of the South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC).

“Africa is growing a world-class property sector that is increasingly respected and exciting. It is an honour to be part of a sector that is driving the development of industrial, business, retail and social infrastructure across the continent,” she says.

“I am thrilled and humbled by this award and remain committed to making a positive impact in building the African continent. With Excellerate’s growing African footprint, we’ll continue to set the pace for property service excellence in Africa.”

Founded in South Africa, Excellerate is represented in 11 countries across the African continent, where it delivers tailored solutions and services to local and regional markets, at a world-class standard.

“The many remarkable people who are honoured in these awards are a tribute to the pivotal role that women play in the economy and society,” says Van der Walt.
