Mpumalanga, the second smallest South African province after Gauteng, is known as the “place where the sun rises”. It is situated mainly on the flat terrains of the Middleveld and is bordered by Mozambique and Swaziland in the east, and Gauteng in the west. Mbombela, formerly known as Nelspruit, is the capital of the province and the administrative and business centre of the Lowveld.

Mpumalanga has the fourth largest economy in South Africa and its magnificent scenery, fauna and flora is what draws people to this amazing province. It is also home to South Africa’s largest wildlife reserve, Kruger National Park; the world's third deepest canyon, the Blyde River Canyon; and the world's oldest cave system, the 240 million-year-old Sudwala Caves.

The region's fascinating natural wonders include Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window, Wonder View and the Three Rondavels. Because of its popularity as a tourist destination, Mpumalanga is also served by a number of small airports, including the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.

Mpumalanga is rich in natural resources such as coal reserves and most of the manufacturing production occurs in the northern and southern Highveld region. This is where one will find large petrochemical industries such as Sasol II and III, as well as the largest paper mills in Ngodwana and producers of steel and vanadium in Middelburg.

With the most amazing properties on offer to rent or to buy in Nelspruit boasting spectacular views, to the luxury homes in White River, lovely townhouses in Middelburg and large commercial properties in Witbank, many residents would agree that Mpumalanga holds the best of both worlds in terms of major manufacturing and productions as well as a holiday lifestyle – the perfect setting and a home away from home.
