In May this year, Property24.com teamed up with Habitat for Humanity and kicked off the Clicks for Bricks Challenge. For every “like” that Property24.com receives on our Facebook page, we have pledged to donate R5 towards building a home for a family in need. The goal is to achieve 18 200 “likes”, donate the R91 000 cost of building a home to Habitat for Humanity and then invite members of the page to help construct the actual home.
When the challenge reached the half-way mark, the beneficiary of the home was nominated by Habitat for Humanity and we’re excited to introduce Ntombizodwa Regina to our Clicks for Bricks supporters.
Zodwa is a single mother with one daughter, Lutoni, and is a domestic worker in Belville where she has been working for the same family for 8 years. Originally from Khayelitsha, she’s been living in Mfuleni for 5 years and has never lived in a real house.
When the Property24.com team went to meet Zodwa, she gave us a tour of her current shack which is made of wood and tin and leaks terribly when it rains, directly onto her bed where she and her daughter sleep. It’s bitterly cold at night, there are no separate rooms and her basin and toilet are outside.
Zodwa is incredibly excited about her new home and says “it’s going to change her life”. She wants nothing more than to be able to have a house for her daughter to be warm and safe in and where she can have her friends and family come to visit.
To help build Zodwa’s home, visit www.facebook.com/property24 and click the ‘Like’ button. Get all your friends involved, every click counts!
