An increasing demand for homes in the quiet coastal town of Uvongo on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast has seen a new 21-unit, simplex townhouse development, Uvongo Garden Estates launched this month (July 2007), reports Dina Porteous, area principal for Pam Golding Properties which is marketing the project.
"Uvongo is essentially a residential area, sought after for its unspoilt coastline with a safe swimming beach and leafy sub-tropical environment. There are two and three bedroom homes from 93-148sqm, priced from R795 000 to R997 000 including VAT, and each with a single or double lock-up garage. The homes are specially designed with quality finishes which include granite work surfaces in the kitchen, plus fitted hob and under counter oven. Imported Italian floor tiles in the kitchen - and fitted from floor to ceiling in the bathrooms - complete the luxurious appeal.
The grounds within the complex will be landscaped with indigenous trees and shrubs. An additional feature is a small waterfall which trickles into a stream feeding a fresh water pond surrounded by ferns and shrubs, providing residents with the soothing sounds of running water.
The developers are Dr Michael Jarvis, Bruce Jarvis, Malcolm Blake and Krishna Perumal, whose combined expertise extends to both commercial and sectional title residential schemes as far afield as the Western Cape, Bloemfontein, Gauteng and Ladysmith. The architect and engineer is Anton Van Riet of Port Shepstone and the building contractor is Marius McCallaghan of Ocean Construction CC.
Construction of the units has already commenced with the anticipated date of occupation in mid-2008.
