Sandton estate agents Stan Rosenberg and Marc Wachenheimer have been named as this year's top producers among the Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty team working in greater Johannesburg.

They were presented with the Agents of the Year Turnover trophy at a recent awards ceremony held to honour the real estate group's best performers in the past 12 months.

And their achievement was no mean feat, says group chairman Lew Geffen, considering that the Johannesburg offices defied the market downturn last year to show an increase in turnover for the fifth consecutive year and that the average annual turnover per agent in the Johannesburg offices now stands at R15m.

"Stan and Marc have a powerful synergy and work like clockwork as a team," he says. "They expound all the virtues of a top sales team like integrity and discretion and most of all they work extremely hard. They richly deserve this award."

Second place in the turnover category was taken by the Bryanston team of Manuela Coelho and Ester Kruger, and third place by Craighall agents Kass Bunkell and Sybil Berg.

The Agent of the Year Units prize went to Jeanine Oosthuizen, who only joined the company 18 months ago and who works in Morningside. The award she claimed last year – Best New Agent from Another Company, went this year to Kevin Blacklock and Ewa Luckos, who cover the Sunninghill market.

The ooba awards, presented to the agents who generated the most new bonds and the highest value of bond business in the past year, went to Cecile Leck and James Christellis, who were also the top selling and top income generating agents in the Johannesburg North office.

Other awards presented during the ceremony included the trophy for the Most Improved Agents, which went to Brian Lipner and Antonia Nicholson for their work in Greenside, Emmarentia and Victory Park, and the prize for the agent displaying the best Esprit de Corps, which went to Beverley Gurwicz, who works in Westcliff and Saxonwold.

Two new awards were also introduced. These were the trophy for Best Market Share, which went to David and Theodora Brickhill who dominate the Parkview and Parktown North markets, and the Chairman's Award, which recognizes the most consistent achievement in terms of sales turnover and was presented to the Bryanston sales team.

Speaking at the ceremony, Geffen also recognized the enormous contribution made to the group's success by the administrative staff and the agents' assistants and junior partners. "They are the spine of our sales force and we applaud them for their invaluable efforts," he said.
