Renault to move into R38m premises
06 Oct 2006
Renault Gateway, whose business has grown to such an extent that it simply needs more space, moves into its new property early next month.
Motortown at Umhlanga Ridge continues its impressive growth with the completion of a R38m complex in Meridian Road for Renault Gateway.
"This is a state-of-the-art building which we will be very proud to hand over to Renault," said Bruce Winship of Grid. Grid also recently completed the new multi-million rand complex for Kia Motors at the corner of St Johns Road and Old Main Road in Pinetown.
Dealer principle at Renault Gateway, Tim Ridgeway, said they moved into Umhlanga Ridge about five years ago when sugar cane was still the most dominant factor in the area.
They witnessed phenomenal development on the Ridge and similar growth in their business, especially following Renault's return to the South African market about three years ago.
"We will occupy about 80% of the premises with the rest being taken up by Lotus, Proton and Kawasaki motorbikes."
"It will be a flagship dealer for Renault in South Africa and one of the biggest in the country in terms of facilities offered," said Ridgeway
Kia Motors Gateway will move into the space vacated by Renault, and Tata will move into the original Kia building.
"Customer friendly" is the emphasis at the modern complex which houses a new car showroom, a pre-owned section, an impressive service and workshop centre with 22 bays and an extensive office/admin area. There will also be a Renault parts facility.
The modern, multi-storey building is airy and spacious with the emphasis being on allowing in as much natural light as possible through an extensive glass frontage.
There is a comfy undercover section for the convenience of customers waiting to hand vehicles over for service and repair.
