A municipal official employed by the Madibeng Municipality in the North West is due to appear in court in Orkney on charges of corruption and fraud involving a R100-million tender.
Details of the allegations will be revealed once the official has appeared in court. However, the action against the municipal official was taken after an extensive audit was conducted on the capital expenditure projects within the Madibeng area.
The audit probed aspects of the municipal infrastructure grant and various Department of Water Affairs projects. Financial mismanagement of project funds – amounting to more than R100-million – were uncovered during the audit.
The municipal official has not been identified – this will happen once the suspect appears in court – but was arrested towards the end of last year. The official is expected to apply for bail at the initial court hearing in Orkney today.

The main plan to protect bad image is to hold and have proper service delivery as one of the candidate who acknowledged position being appointed, finally my message of concern, let HIM be punished, as a result employment contract/ benefits also be terminated, with immediate effect.Thank you very much for your special time !!! - Ernest
