When children bring home their artwork it’s precious.

That first masterpiece that is made with love and presented with joy is only the first of many, many, many works of art that will be brought home for you to display.

With that thought in mind we thought we should put together a collection of ideas on how to display art in your home, ideas that don’t include using Prestik or sellotape to hang them on the fridge door.

Frame it

Paint a few mismatched frames in the same colour and hang them on the wall for an eclectic display.

Switch up the artwork in the frames when new pieces come in.

There’s no need for hammers and nails with decorative framing - just stick your child’s latest masterpiece, no matter how big or oddly-shaped it is, in the frame and proudly display it on a table or countertop.

Fasten a timber board to a wall and glue some clips onto the board. With this bright idea you can change and arrange your child's artwork as and when you need to.

Stick it up

You could also use duct or metallic tapes that come in a variety of colours to stick up your little Picasso’s work. These can be found at your local hardware store.

Clip it on

Pin it up

Using softboard is an easy way to add a notice board to any room or area in the home.

I found this idea on pin interest and realised that this is a great way of displaying children’s art and a smart way of keeping a record of notes and invitations for kiddies parties.

A softboard is made of light material so you’ll only need a couple of picture hooks to hang it up on the wall.

Another quick and easy way to display your children’s art is to drape a string or ribbon along a wall and use clothing pegs to attach the art or pictures onto the string or ribbon.

Be creative with this display, add colour to the pegs or decorate them with scraps of colourful fabric.

Memo boards

I love this idea.

Attach spray painted memo boards to the wall with double-sided tape.

Now you can make a feature wall using your child's artwork without cluttering up the walls in your home, and the kids can add and change their art when they want to.

Make a timber frame

Making a timber frame is the perfect option for those renting a home.

Use memo boards to make a feature wall. Your children can add and remove their art whenever they want to.

If the landlord won't let you bang picture hooks into the wall, building a timber frame lets you hang up as much as you like - without any holes

Make a feature wall

And last but not least, for those who love to treasure and display their children's artworks - a complete wall.

Divided into three separate sections, this wall has a magnetic board, a chalkboard and a board for wall art and notices.

Use Rust-Oleum manufactures paint-on magnetic and chalkboard paints, which can be found on the shelf at your local Builders Warehouse.
