Kreeve explains that the spacious apartments celebrate and embrace the tranquil haven in the heart of the bustling city. He says the panoramic views of the golf course and the skyline are drawn into the architecture through large glazed facades, high ceiling volumes and balcony platforms.
Each apartment offers high tech features such as an integrated kitchen (including washing machine/dryer combo, dish washer, refrigerator, freezer and microwave), air-conditioning and wireless internet access.
“To provide an unmatched sense of security and privacy, residents will enjoy direct access to their apartments via private elevator while the entire development is monitored by a military grade security system,” says Kreeve.

David Nagle, developer and investor in The Houghton says the idea behind the R3 billion development was a grand view of living in the city with stunning views, yet far removed from the madness of it all.
Nagle emphasised the fact that property buyers demand value for money and so a masterpiece premier development within the world class city of Johannesburg made sense to develop.
As a developer, he says he needed to set a new standard in residential property developments and says if one wants to make money in this economy they have to abandon the idea of building average homes.
Asked about the typical buyer into The Houghton, he says there are a lot of local buyers because South Africa is a nation of entrepreneurs. “These buyers appreciate a good thing when they see one, they value the meaning and interpretation of architecture of a building, a home that becomes their sanctuary to retire to after a long day.”
“Wealthy property buyers love a unique lifestyle and so this development fits perfectly into what they want,” says Nagle.
He describes the architecture used as a work of genius and art that woven together creates sprawling unpretentious living spaces that have never been seen before. He says the important thing as developers was to use the premium space effectively to make the apartments look bigger and more open.
Nagle adds that The Houghton is the next best thing in luxury property developments. “It is a lifestyle like no other, where the impossible is made possible.” – Denise Mhlanga
