An affordable new housing development has been launched in the suburb of Sherwood, Port Elizabeth.

This secure development comprises 179 plots, ranging in size from 180 square metres to 520 square metres with a mix of freehold and semi-detached homes that offer between two and three bedrooms.

The development, known as Thriftwood and situated in Walker Drive, is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood for residential buyers, says Seeff Port Elizabeth Sales Manager, Gavin O’Leary.

It also delivers new housing where it is needed most, in the affordable homes category. Residents in this popular suburb now also have the benefit of an extension of Walker Drive to the N2 for convenient access to other areas in the city and the new Bay West Shopping Mall.

There are five home designs to choose from, priced from as low as R425 000 for a 53 square metre semi-detached unit and R520 000 for a 66 square metre two bedroom home on a plot-and-plan option, says O’Leary.

Buyers have the flexibility to choose the number of bedrooms and bathrooms and can also add garaging if they have the budget. The advantage of this new development is that it allows buyers to start small and to grow their home as their financial position improves.

The homes are designed in a low-maintenance face brick with tiled roofs and aluminium windows and sliding doors, and will have fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms. Living areas will be tiled and bedrooms carpeted.

Buyers can, however, choose finishes that suit their budget, he says.

Security includes electrified perimeter fencing and access control and is monitored by Atlas Security.

O’Leary says prices include transfer costs, which is a significant benefit for buyers and Seeff will also assist buyers with bond applications to the major banks.

He says the development provides the opportunity to acquire a new home with flexible options for buyers’ budgets.
