Three black estate agents' organisations have merged to form the National Property Forum (NPF), they said on Friday.
"Officially established this week, the NPF combines the strength of the Nu Nation Property Network, the Black Estate Agents' Forum South Africa and the South African Forum of Real Estate, which together represent more than 4000 estate agents and agency principals around the country," the three said in a joint statement.
The NPF would officially launch in January 2011.
"The NPF already represents a very large percentage of the estate agents currently registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB), and our membership is growing daily," said chairman of the new organisation Leo Mlambo.
"It should be stressed that we are a non-racial organisation that is open to all estate agents who subscribe to our constitution and values, and that our main aim is to be the authoritative voice of the industry, speaking in the interests of agents on all major platforms nationally and internationally."
Nomonde Mapetla, CEO of the EAAB, welcomed the new organisation.
"Transformation of the industry is one of the strategic imperatives of the department of trade and industry.
"The EAAB therefore supports the formation of the NPF and is positive that it will help to address key challenges faced by black professionals in the property industry and at the same time play a very important role in assisting to professionalise the industry," she said. - Sapa
