The Middelburg Mall Regional Shopping Centre in Mpumalanga has been late in opening its doors for trading fully, but is now offering locals an unrivalled shopping experience.

Located off the N4 highway, construction of the R500 million shopping centre which opened last week took 14 months.

The 43 000 square metre mall was developed by Flanagan & Gerard Property Development & Investment and Moolman Group.

Patrick Flanagan of Flanagan and Gerard says Middelburg Mall offers the ideal complete shopping experience for the area.

It has a diverse mix of nearly 100 retailers with anchor tenants including Checkers, Woolworths, Edgars, Pick n Pay and Game complemented by other retailers offering different services from mobile telephones to gifts and furnishings.

“The mall is designed to be a real asset for its community - a community sorely underserviced by retail, until now,” says Flanagan.

Middelburg Mall is set to attract local shoppers and those who live in surrounding areas such as Hendrina, Bethal, Ermelo, Carolina, Kriel, Groblersdal, Machadodorp, Marble Hall, Waterval Boven and Dullstroom.

The developers are responsible for the super-regional Mall of the North in Polokwane and Bedworth Centre in Vanderbijlpark among other successful retail projects.

They say the mall has further built-in expansion potential and could eventually exceed 55 000 square metres thanks to unrelenting demand for retail space at Middleburg Mall. – Denise Mhlanga
