Valid Fifa World Cup ticket holders in Gauteng will be able to use Metrorail train services for free to get to stadiums and secure parking facilities, the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) said on Friday.
Metrorial is ready to transport ticket holders, free of charge, starting with the opening match on Friday afternoon at Soccer City Stadium in Nasrec, spokeswoman Nana Zenani said in a statement.
"The boarding of our special 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup trains will take place on platform 11 and 12 at Park Station with passengers dropped-off at our newly refurbished Nasrec Station situated within five minutes from Soccer City," she said.
Passengers are urged to be aware of departure times to and from the games and to contact the Metrorail customer care on 0800 12 7070 prior to embarking on their journey to ensure they had the correct times. – Sapa
