International residential and resort developer IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFA HR), co-developer of the acclaimed Zimbali Coastal Resort, recently announced the opening of Fairmont The Palm, its first hotel in Dubai.
The US$330 million five-star beachfront hotel is the only operational resort located on the trunk of the Palm Jumeirah, making it one of the island’s most accessible destinations. It also becomes the eighth property in the world to offer a Fairmont Heritage Place (FHP) private residence club and the second FHP in the IFA HR portfolio.
Talal Jassim Al-Bahar, Chairman of IFA Hotels & Resorts South Africa says following Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Fairmont Zimbali Resort, this is the third Fairmont property in their portfolio and their first operational hotel in Dubai.
“For our current and future owners in both FHP Zimbali and FHP The Palm, it is especially exciting news that another world-class Fairmont Heritage Place destination is now accessible.”
The impressive five-star hotel features 460 metres of beachfront, 381 guest rooms with balconies, 10 Fairmont Heritage Place, The Palm residences, 3 000 square metres of meeting and conference facilities, 1 600 square metre spa, seven food and beverage outlets and an array of amenities including four swimming pools, a private beach club and Children's Activity Centre.
In addition to the diverse food and beverage outlets, the hotel features 10 floors of rooms and suites. Each guest room features a five-fixture bathroom with bathtub and separate walk-in shower and is equipped with the latest in entertainment and communication systems.
The Fairmont Heritage Place residences, located within the penthouse levels of the hotel, are generously scaled, with one bedroom units averaging 144 square metres and two bedroom units averaging 223 square metres.
These ideal holiday retreats, which are sold in 1\13th fractions, have expansive windows with wonderful views. Every bedroom has a large en suite bathroom, open concept dining and living areas, and large private terraces running the length of the residences.
Mark Sawkins, General Manager of Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Fairmont Zimbali Resort, sees the opening as a great opportunity for FHP Zimbali owners. He says through their reciprocal use agreements, their owners will be able to enjoy Fairmont Heritage Place, The Palm and all of the luxurious services it makes available.
The extensive offerings in Dubai form part of a larger US$616 million development that includes 562 luxury apartments, bringing the total number of keys in the development to 957.
Werner Burger, CEO of IFA Hotels & Resorts South Africa, says developing luxury mixed-use resorts has established IFA HR as an industry leader.
He says their focus is on repositioning and restructuring their business with an emphasis on operations – a sector where they’ve seen good growth.
“We will also continue to focus on our leisure products, vacation clubs and private residence clubs, which have surpassed our sales expectations in the current market.”
