eLan Property Group have created a division for the sales of hotels, guest houses, sectional title hotels, shareblock hotels and a new product called Timeless Vacations.

eLan Property Group have launched the division to assist owners of hotels and hospitality product who require advice on the further development of existing product, as well as sales and marketing strategies to maximise asset value.

The Durban based group are usually involved in the sales of large residential estates and sectional title hotels and have launched the division to assist owners of hotels and hospitality product who require advice on the further development of existing product, as well as sales and marketing strategies to maximise asset value.

Mark Taylor, CEO of the eLan Group, says it was a "natural progression" for the group to offer owners of hospitality product an avenue to sell or maximise their assets after having been involved in the development and ownership of hotels over the last fifteen years.

He says their executives have a lot of in-house expertise, having been involved in large hotel products and groups and can assist owners of assets through selling them or assisting with change strategy to make them more profitable. The company has executives who have in excess of 65 years’ experience in well-known hotels and the group has five hotel developments in the planning and development stage.

The group has aligned itself to specific sales and marketing companies and once the needs analysis of each product has been done, a suggested strategy is proposed. On the sale of hotels, a study of the asset and the business is completed and proposed buyers are introduced to owners for further discussion.

Taylor says they have had many approaches from individuals and companies from within and outside South Africa to purchase hospitality products and they realised there was an opportunity to create introductions and assist with the sale of assets. He emphasised that some owners had high expectations of purchase prices and they often have to be blunt and realistic with owners.

With élan already having significant investment in hotels and hospitality products around Southern Africa, the group is well poised to make an immediate impact in this specific area of the market.

Elan Property Group has 23 years of experience and has been involved in the development of hotels such as Simbithi Eco Estate on the North Coast of Kwazulu-Natal, The Riverside Hotel in Durban, The Protea President Hotel in Cape Town and Zululand Tree and Safari Lodge in Hluhulwe.
