Summer is almost here, and what better way to spend time outdoors than relaxing in a swing bed.

Make sure the timber is in good condition and the slats are sturdy and not broken. Drill holes at the end of the pallet for threading through thick nylon or cotton rope.

The swing bed is made from reclaimed timber pallets, but you can make it out of any reclaimed timber or make one from scratch using PAR pine from your local Builders Warehouse.

To make a swing bed you will need two timber pallets joined together with nuts and bolts.

Make sure the timber is in good condition and the slats are sturdy and not broken.
Drill holes at the end of the pallet for threading through thick nylon or cotton rope.
Tie these off on a support structure or tree branch.

Use nylon or thick cotton rope to hang the bed and make sure you have enough rope at each end to thread through and back up to tie off on a tree branch or support structure.

Hang the swing bed up in your garden and place a foam, inflatable or fold-up mattress on the pallets, along with a blanket and some colourful cushions and lie back in the sun.
