One Johannesburg residential suburb is not widely known about but is proving popular among residents is Morningside Ext 40 in the River Club area, Sandton.
This spacious, upmarket home in River Club is situated close to Sandton and is on sale through Pam Golding Properties for R19 million.
It is a quiet little suburb, and a “very well kept secret”, says Jonathan Davies, Pam Golding Properties (PGP) Hyde Park joint branch manager.
According to Davies, the area is appreciated by those who enjoy community living in a secure environment. He says it offers homes from the middle through to the upper market and it caters to a variety of tastes.
Davies says properties tend to be in demand. One of the reasons for this is that it is central and close to Sandton’s CBD. This is appreciated by those who work in the area and enjoy the shopping that is on offer in the greater Sandton area. There are also a multitude of schools within easy reach including St Stithians College, Redhill, Brescia House, The French School Lycée Jules Verneand British International College.
It is not often that a spacious family home that conveniently places every amenity at your doorstep becomes available in the Morningside Ext 40 area, but such a home has been placed on the market. The five bedroom, double storey home, complete with squash court and gym, is on sale for R19 million and is available through PGP.
The house has outsanding views from the second floor of this chic family home which has a squash court, gym and an Italian-style kitchen.
It has open plan reception areas, glass stack doors and high ceilings and has been designed to take full advantage of Johannesburg’s abundant light. The stack doors give access to the undercover patio from the large lounge and dining room while an indoor/outdoor swimming pool integrates the living areas with the entertainment space. According to PGP agents Lesley Gray and Marion Dean, the north facing home is likely to appeal to those who enjoy outdoor living and entertaining.
The lounge has a large gas fireplace designed to warm the entire downstairs area during winter and the dining room is situated alongside the open plan Italian-style kitchen with Siemens appliances. Any cook would appreciate the space as it allows you to work with efficiency while easily interacting with dinner guests.
“For those who are active, the squash court and gym are conveniently situated and the latter has a separate shower, changing area and toilet,” says Gray. He adds that there is an outside pool shower for rinsing after a swim and the garden is compact and attractive and has a computerised irrigation system.
The main bedroom is upstairs and opens on to a private balcony. It has a en suite bathroom, open shower and a separate toilet, as well as a large walk-in dressing room that is designed to double as a strong room.
There are two north facing bedrooms with en suite bathrooms which both open on to balconies and are situated alongside a pyjama lounge. There is a guest suite comprising of a bedroom with private lounge and kitchenette with a convenient, separate entrance. This can double up as a home office or as a private apartment. Everyone can enjoy the Johannesburg sunsets from the cocktail or viewing deck.
The home has a total of five bathrooms, four of which are en suite, and four reception rooms. According to Dean, the stand size of the property is approximately 1 870 square metres and the size of the home 1 094 square metres. Additional buildings include staff accommodation with two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a bathroom.
The security of the property includes a guard house, alarm system, garden beams, electric fence, remote interior and exterior CCTV surveillance and reinforced windows across the patio and pool front. Gray says the property is ideal for the modern family seeking plenty of space and light. “It is a home that truly lifts the spirits.”
