What do a selection of antique furniture, a century old Bible, Tin Tin posters, gym equipment and kitchen appliances all have in common?

Well, for starters, these particular items were all owned by the now infamous Baroness Alexandra von Maltzahn, and second, they are all up for sale among many other items in a no-reserve auction.

This auction will follow the public auction of the Baroness' luxury Constantia mansion. The auction, of both the mansion and its contents, has attracted widespread interest among the media and prospective bidders alike.

The Baroness fled the country under a cloud of debt in July last year, leaving the house strewn with her clothing and personal effects. Noteworthy among these is the selection of designer label perfume, clothing, and jewellery, the amassed books and artwork, a selection of kids toys including framed posters of famed comic hero, Tin Tin, as well as many a piece of fine furniture.

Another item that is sure to get the bidding cards waving is the more than a century-old Cassell's Illustrated Family Bible, complete with its stand.

The auction of the mansion and adjacent plot of vacant land will take place on site at 1 Rhodes Drive in Constantia on January 22 at 11:00 to be followed directly after by the auction of the moveable assets.
