Why Bamboo?
- How is Bamboo flooring manufactured?
Fresh, mature Moso Bamboo is split and flattened lengthwise into strips of equal dimensions. The strips are processed and kiln dried before being pressed against each other and then into blocks. The blocks are then cut into planks according to the thickness and size required for the finished product.
- Is bamboo environmentally friendly? Mao (Moso) bamboo is specially cultivated and harvested, without damaging the ecological system. Every year the parent bamboo plant develops new stems, so the stems can be harvested after six years in a mature plantation without decreasing the size of the forest. There is also no deforestation as the parent plant continues to grow as it is only cut at the base and not uprooted. Moso Bamboo is also one of the bamboo species that is not on the Panda's menu.
- Is bamboo flooring as durable as other hardwood floors? Bamboo flooring is manufactured using six year-old mature Moso Bamboo from Southern China where the unique climate makes the wood extremely strong – once processed this aids in making bamboo flooring one of the most durable in the world.
- How do bamboo floors compare to other floors coverings? Horizontal and vertical solid bamboo flooring is harder than most popular hardwoods (eg. Oak) and Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring is harder than most exotic expensive hardwoods (eg. Brazilian Walnut). Bamboo is also more competitively priced than these hardwoods. Bamboo Flooring will not stain like a carpet. Flooring is hypoallergenic. Non-pollutant, termite and allergy resistance option, unlike other solid wood floors and carpets. Bamboo is warm in winter and cool in summer, making it a far more attractive option to tiles.
- Are floors pre-finished and ready to install? Yes, most ranges are pre-finished with nine coats UV cured Klumpp and Treffert Coatings. Making them one of the most scratch-resistant bamboo floors available. Most flooring options can be provided unsealed as an alternative.
- How do we ensure consistent quality? Manufacturer in China have exceptionally strict quality controls monitored by experienced technicians, using the latest technology and modern machinery for all processes. Constant testing is done in an onsite laboratory, including abrasive and Janka testing. All flooring is carefully checked before packaging.
