Bleach-free detergent

Before loading your washing machine, pre-treat the neckline with a bleach-free detergent. Take a few minutes to work-in the detergent, using your fingers, before letting it sit for 15 minutes.

Throw your garment in the wash and launder as usual.

Baking soda paste

Create a thick but workable paste using baking soda and water to rub into the stain. Make use of a damp cloth to gently scrub away the grime and allow the stain to soak for a further 20 minutes before laundering.

To remove yellow collar stains saturate the affected area with freshly cut lemon juice and place the garment out in direct sunlight for up to an hour.

Dishwashing liquid

Thoroughly wet the stained area with dishwashing soap and let it marinate for half an hour. After the time has lapsed, rinse the collar off using warm water and pop it into the washing machine.

Lemon juice

Saturate the affected area with freshly cut lemon juice and place the garment out in direct sunlight for up to an hour.

The acidity in the lemon and the power of the sun will help bleach out the stain. Throw your shirt or blouse in the wash and repeat the process as needed. – Katlego Sekano
