Take the time to have a conversation with the women you wouldn't normally converse with - you'll be pleasantly suprised.

We all have phenomenal women in our lives. But sometimes, when life kicks in, we forget and lose sight of how important their role in society is.

Let’s take the time to honour ourselves and other exceptional women. Here are a few ideas...

Conquer your fears

Women live with a lot of angst, which is often caused by societal pressures among other things.

This Women’s Day, be encouraged to overcome some, if not all, of your worries.

Free yourself of any anxiety and take a leap of faith - walk out the door without a stitch of makeup on, stand up to a family bully, face your fear of heights and above all else, live in honesty.

Invest in other women

We all know beautiful, strong women – moms, daughters, designers, engineers, tuck shop owners and so on. Why not bring them together and share encouraging life experiences.

Start small – compliment other women.

All too often women feel threatened by other women’s achievements and as a result they feel the need to put each other down.

However, the truth is, every woman feels the pressure to be better at something, whether it’s to look skinnier, prettier or be more successful. So give each other a break - after all, it is not a competition.

Take the time to have a conversation with the women at work, make the lady at the dry cleaners laugh, be a mentor, share what you know and be open to learning from others.

Get together for lunch

We all know beautiful, strong women – moms, daughters, designers, engineers, tuck shop owners and so on. Why not bring them together with a special lunch.

Learn something new - take a dance class, learn how to play the guitar, or perform magic tricks.

Use the opportunity to cook together, set the table and indulge in a beautiful meal. Enjoy great conversation and recount stories that will not only build you up but also let you and your guests know that you are not alone in your struggles and victories.

Learn something new

Take a dance class, learn how to play the guitar, or perform magic tricks.

This ‘something new’ could be an unfulfilled passion of yours or a fun way of relaxing and expressing yourself.

Consider it to be part of your ‘me time’ as side activities are geared towards keeping us ‘alive’, entertained and feeling good. Have a wonderful Women’s Day! – Katlego Sekano
