There are certain jobs in and around the home that can be tackled easily and quickly.

The new Bosch Quigo laser system means that no matter what you hang, mount or fit - it will be straight.

Here's a quick round up of DIY products that are useful to have at home in case of an emergency DIY fix up.

1. Sink, bath or shower taking too long to drain

Grab a paperclip and bend it straight, leaving a small hook at the end.

Pop on some rubber gloves and insert the end of the paperclip into the drain.

This quick fix works in a bathtub, basin or shower, where hair collects over time and clogs the drain.

2. Scratched appliances

Never have to worry about scratches ever again.

Leftover toothpaste and an old, soft toothbrush can be used to lightly brush jewellery.

The Rust-Oleum range of products includes Appliance Touch-Up, Appliance Epoxy and High Heat sprays.

3. Stained ceilings

Covers Up Stain Ceiling Paint is a low odour vertical aerosol that is a stain killer and ceiling touch-up paint in one.

The stain blocking primer technology is incorporated into this new generation product that offers a flat white finish, which matches most new acoustical ceiling tiles and white ceiling paints.

It can be used under or over acrylic and oil-based paints.

4. If it's stuck and should be open - or open and won't stay closed

Remove vinyl decals from a car or caravan with duct tape.

These are two items that definitely should be in your toolbox, or under the sink.

WD-40 is a silicone-free lubricant that has over 2000 uses.

Duct tape is the one tape you can trust in an emergency.

Remove vinyl decals from a car, caravan or similar surfaces with a light spray of WD-40 and then peel off without any damage.

5. Need to fix it fast?

Pattex 5 and 10 minute epoxy works on almost any surface to bond and fix quickly.

Two-part epoxy is rock-hard, fills gaps, bonds to almost anything and dries very quickly.

6. Battling to hang it straight

The new Bosch Quigo laser system means that no matter what you hang, mount or fit - it will be straight.

Frames can be fixed anywhere using the clamp that comes complete with the tool, which means you can use it for hanging wallpaper, mounting artwork, tiling or fitting crown moulding, etc.

7. Keep leftover charcoal

Charcoal absorbs moisture, so stick a couple of lumps in your toolbox to keep your tools from rusting.

Add a piece to a vase of fresh cut flowers to keep the water clean for longer.

8. No more paint splashes

Plastic lids from take-away coffee make perfect paint spatter trays.

Cut a hole in the cup, large enough to poke through the handle of a paintbrush and then let the lid catch paint drip.

9. Messy grout

A pastry bag is perfect for filling gaps with grout, for wall and floor tiles.

Cut the end of the bag to the width of the gap and forget about any messy cleanup.

10. Use toothpaste for cleaning

Leftover toothpaste and an old, soft toothbrush can be used to lightly brush jewellery.

Dab a bit of toothpaste onto the brush, brush your jewels then rinse before using a dry, soft towel to polish them dry.

If you run out of bathroom scourers use some toothpaste in a pinch, and watch your taps shine.

Remove crayon from walls with a cloth and a small amount of toothpaste.

The fine, abrasiveness in the toothpaste will rub away the crayon every time.
